Last year’s mobile data traffic was nearly 18 times the size of the entire global internet in 2000, and by 2016, tablets will exceed 15% of global mobile data traffic. But what these statistics fail to highlight is the increasing security risk driven by this astonishing growth in data.
In the past five years recorded incidents of data breaches have increased by 1609% in local government, there are also now over 13,000 thefts of public sector mobile property a year, and as a result organisations are being fined thousands of pounds for breaches in data security.
