O2 Data Usage – Uncapped

O2 Data Capping

Previously UK data was capped at the allowance the user had. Once the 4G tariffs and applicable data bolt ons were released, the networks decided that these would now be uncapped and has been the case now for some time.

When you start using up some of your data you will get usage alerts will be sent at when you have used 80% and then again usage alerts will be sent at 100%

Once all data has been used, the service will not be restricted but charged per MB unless an applicable one off bolt on is applied

If you go over their inclusive data, this is not covered under Bill Shock as notifications are sent to the user.  It is up to that user to then inform either us, the network or their work line manager who can then contact us to add further data.

Samsung have recently released the new Galaxy S7 Edge.

First of all, their overall design is similar to the Galaxy S6. The main difference is the significant improvement in battery life for the new device compared to last year’s model.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both accept MicroSD cards, allowing their storage to be expanded, and can also be submerged underwater for 30 minutes and when you take it out it is still fully functional.

In addition, they have significantly improved the camera quality and the rear camera should cope even better than previous versions in low-light conditions.

Microsoft Display

Microsoft Continuum

Microsoft Continuum

Continuum turns your phone into a big-screen projector and a big-time productivity tool. Get real work done on the go with a device that fits in your pocket. Simply connect a mouse or keyboard for an experience like a PC, while still keeping the use of your phone.

Or you can connect wirelessly by using a dongle that is compatible with continuum to project wirelessly from your phone.

You  can use Microsoft continuum on your windows phone and control what you would like to show on the screen just from your smartphone.

How to use Continuum: What is it?

Continuum is a way for Windows to detect the hardware you are using and ensure that you always have the optimum interface on your machine. If you are using a desktop with no touchscreen, then Windows will now know this and present the traditional mouse and keyboard interface that works best on that setup. For those with a hybrid device, such as the Surface Pro 3, Continuum will monitor whether a keyboard is attached or not and provide either a tablet or touchscreen laptop interface. If you then remove the keyboard this will be detected and the interface adjusted accordingly by the system, and vice versa. It’s simple and keeps out of the way, just like good software should.

How to use Continuum in Windows 10

As Continuum comes built in to all versions of Windows 10 there isn’t much to do in terms of setup. If you have a traditional desktop or laptop your system will always use the same interface. For owners of tablets and hybrid devices there are options for controlling how your device responds to a change of hardware, such as removing or adding a keyboard.

In Windows 10 when you remove a keyboard, for example, the system will pop up a dialog box asking if you want to enter tablet mode. Tapping this will then adjust the interface. Of course the reverse is true when you reattach the keyboard. Rather than be prompted every time, you can select an automatic response so that Windows knows what you want it to do.

Reduced Roaming Charges in Europe

Reduced Roaming Charges in Europe

Data roaming is often an unforeseen cost when travelling abroad, and most people are unaware of how expensive using their mobile phone in a foreign country can be. There’s nothing worse than returning home from a relaxing holiday, only to discover your phone bill is sky high!

Often, there is a lot of confusion as to what international roaming is and why it is so costly. To put it simply, roaming is when your mobile automatically connects to a local network when you are abroad.

If you want to use the internet, make a phone call or send a text then a request for data is sent from your smartphone to the local provider. The local provider then sends this request to your home network, who then send it to the internet before making the entire trip back.

This is expensive as it involves two carriers as opposed to one, and the cost is totally incurred by the subscriber rather than the network provider.

Luckily,  the European Union has now slashed the maximum roaming charge by over 50%, which is effective as of today. This is the first step in their plan to abolish roaming charges completely by 2015.

The following tariff caps now apply:

.Outgoing voice calls (per min): £0.15

.Incoming voice calls (per min): £0.04

.Outgoing texts (per SMS): £0.05

.Online (data download, per MB): £0.16

This is great news as it allows people to stay connected when travelling abroad without spending a fortune. And it comes just in time for the summer!

Please be aware that the cap is only effective in EU member states, so countries such as Turkey and Switzerland are excluded. If you are travelling to a country outside of the EU we recommend finding out what roaming charges will apply before using your mobile phone.
